My Chinese language study at the Wenxin School.

Since a few weeks I study Chinese language with a friend at the Wenxin school. I am

doing a beginners study ( HSK 1).  In a casual way we have learned already a lot of words. The correct

pronunciation is difficult for us but the good teaching materials are helping us. Also the location is very comfortable and well equipped.

A beautiful encounter

Teaching calligraphy abroad is my long-standing dream. It is a good chance for introducing and conveying Chinese culture. I have been looking for a Chinese school since the first day I arrived in the Netherlands. The first time I heard Wenxin Chinese school was in a Chinese supermarket in Apeldoorn. I saw the poster on the wall and then browsed the school website. After reading the school information, I abandoned the idea of teaching Chinese at this school because of my disadvantage that i don’t know how to speak Dutch.

However, by chance, I met Teacher Sumei Ren. Apeldoorn, a quiet little town, which is only very lively on weekends. There are many Asian faces walking on the street, but most of them are Vietnamese friends, so Chinese people often face each other with and then they want to say hello but hesitate for a long time. On a rainy afternoon, I just walked from print shop and I met teacher Ren who was riding the bicycle. More precisely, it was almost passed by. It was like telepathy,I suddenly slowed down and returned. After a brief talking with the teacher, I suddenly look forward to the Sunday which used to be boring.

I was very nervous before I taught the children for the first time. Although Chinese is my mother tongue, I have no teaching experience. So I have expectations as well as panic on that following Sunday. However, on the first day of class, I felt that my nervousness was superfluous. Just like the name of this Chinese school, the atmosphere is very warm. People from everywhere gather in this rented community center to learn the language and find the roots. Now the children are still too young to understand the meaning of roots, but when they grow up, one day they will understand that it is something that is passed down in the blood which can not be given up, can not be erased.

I am glad that the three children I taught are three smart and handsome boys. Their Chinese level is very good, they already have enough ability to listen and speak Chinese, they just need to consolidate their ability of reading and writing. The ability of these children to learn knowledge is very strong, which reduces my pressure invisibly. This is a relaxed and not lacking rigorous class. In the classroom, I can temporarily forget the tension of law study life. In addition, teaching Chinese through vivid examples is also a kind of relaxation for me. At the same time, children gain knowledge from these examples.

Fortunately, I met a teacher when I am about to move to another city, which enriched my spare time and allowed me to do more meaningful things in the Netherlands.

My impressions on Wen Xin Chinese school

My name is Li. I am a Chinese who is currently studying in France. I am a friend of the headmistress, Mrs. Ren. And I went to Wen Xin Chinese School last week when I visit her in Apeldoorn.

I think first of all it is a great thing to have a Chinese school in Apeldoorn, for this school brings opportunities to the citizens a chance to learn a beautiful and rich language that is Chinese.

When I first stepped into Wen Xin Chinese School, I felt at ease. Because the colors and decorations of the school make people feel welcomed and warm-hearted. The tables and chairs are put as if it was a chatting room. They give people the feeling of wanting to sit down and talk.

Then I saw Mrs Ren teaching one of her student, and they were both smiling. I thought to myself: That is a friendly and efficient environment for learning a language. Because the teacher seemed kind, and they both seemed to had fun. And after all it is a one on one class so the teachers can teach you at your own rhythm.

After I greeted with Mrs Ren, I saw another one of her student walked in, and they talked like they were good friends. That I know is normal, because I know what kind of person Mrs Ren is. She is kind and friendly, and she treats the people she knows like family.

Just before I leave, I saw a lady who is a little older walked in. So then I knew this is a school for all ages. Cool.

I later found out that this school can even arrange classes according to the students’ schedules. That is just too good!

Well, I don’t know much about Wen Xin Chinese School, but from the little that I saw, I think it is a pretty good school where you can study Chinese comfortably and efficiently and make a lot of friends!

Chinese course in xi’an

This summer I achieved my diploma!

Through a shortened education at Overseas Chinese Language and Culture Education Online in Xi’an.

Learning & Fun

Perhaps the city of Xi’an is unknown to many people, but Xi’an was the eastern end of the silk route and ever the capital of China in ancient times. By far the largest archaeological find of the 20th century, the Terracotta Empire is close by. Thanks to the organizations (Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and International Chinese College), there were 64 Chinese teachers from all over the world, including Japan, Germany and Russia, a chance to follow a great training program.

Despite the hot weather, it was almost unbearable and a few days even above 40 degrees, each participant indicated that she had a positive experience. During these two weeks I know better how to make the lesson more interesting and I realize more how fascinating the Chinese language actually is. The food of Xi’an is very delicious and the city has a rich cultural heritage. In addition to the beauty, I appreciate the hospitality of all volunteers and the College staff. I will definitely recommend this educational and enjoyable program.
